# Members

> Invite people to your workspace, manage seats and pending invitations, change roles, teams and spending limits, and remove members.

**Settings → Workspace → Members** lists everyone in the workspace and is where admins invite,
change and remove people. Everyone can open it and sees the same roster; your permissions
decide which controls appear. For the concepts behind it, see [Workspaces and
members](/docs/concepts/workspaces-and-members).

## Invite someone

<Steps>
  <Step>
    ### Press "Invite"

    Top right of the page. Needs **"Invite and remove members"**.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Add the email addresses

    Add as many as you like under **"Email addresses"**. Invalid addresses are flagged before you
    can send.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Set the role, team and limit

    These apply to everyone in the batch, so invite people with different roles in separate
    batches.

    * **Role**: only roles you can assign yourself are offered, so only an admin can invite an
      admin.
    * **Team**: optional. **"No team"** is the default.
    * **Limit**: an optional monthly credit cap per person. Leave it empty to use the workspace
      pool.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Press "Send invites"

    Each person gets an email with a link to join. Addresses that fail stay in the field with the
    reason: a pending invitation already exists (offers **"Revoke and re-invite"**), the person is
    already a member, it is your own address, or the seat limit is reached.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Seats and pending invitations

* When the plan has a seat cap, the header shows members against it. At the cap, **Invite** is
  locked. Change plan in [Billing](/docs/settings/billing).
* **Pending invitations count as seats. Expired ones don't.** Revoke an unanswered invitation to
  free its seat.
* The **"Pending invitations"** section shows each invitee's role, who invited them and when the
  invitation expires. On a live invitation you can change the team and limit, or revoke it.
* An expired invitation offers **"Resend invitation"** with the same role, team and limit. A
  live one can't be resent: revoke it and invite again.

## Change a member

| What           | Where                                        | Permission                   |
| -------------- | -------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------- |
| Role | **Role** column in the roster | Manage roles and permissions |
| Team | **Team** column in the roster | Invite and remove members |
| Spending limit | **"Spending limit"** on the person's profile | Invite and remove members |

* The role picker offers only roles you can assign. What each role can do is set in
  [Roles and permissions](/docs/governance/roles-and-permissions).
* A personal limit caps credits per billing cycle. If the person's team has a limit, the field
  reads **"Override the team limit"**, and removing it returns them to the team's limit. See
  [Credits and spending](/docs/concepts/credits-and-spending).
* Teams themselves are created in **Settings → Governance → Teams**. See [Teams and
  limits](/docs/governance/teams-and-limits).
* The last admin can't be demoted. Promote another member first.

### A member's profile

Select a name to open the profile: **Role**, **Team**, **Joined**, **Spending limit**, and tabs
for **Activity**, **Assets** (what you can open), **Usage** and **Features** (which tools and
models they can use). **Usage** and **Features** show on your own profile, and on others' if
you can view workspace activity and governance. On your own **Features** tab you can turn
things off for yourself only. Your own profile is at `/settings/workspace/members/me`.

## Remove someone

Open **"More options"** on the row or profile and choose **"Remove from workspace"** (needs
**"Invite and remove members"**). They lose access right away. Their work stays in the
workspace and their account is untouched, so they can be invited back. The last admin can't be
removed.

To remove yourself, the same menu offers **"Leave workspace"**. See
[Workspace](/docs/settings/workspace).
