# Sharing a transcript

> A transcript is an asset, private until you share it with your workspace or with specific people. Learn the two access tiers and who can change them.

A transcript is an asset, so it follows the same sharing rules as everything in your Library.

## Share a transcript

    ### Open the share panel

    Select the &#x2A;*"Private"*&#x2A; / &#x2A;*"Shared"*&#x2A; pill in the transcript's header, or &#x2A;*⋯ → Share ›** on
    its row in the list.

    ### Choose who has access

    Under &#x2A;*"General access"*&#x2A;, choose &#x2A;*"Private"*&#x2A; (&#x2A;"Only you, and wherever it's attached"&#x2A;) or
    &#x2A;*"Workspace"*&#x2A; at &#x2A;*"Can view"*&#x2A; or &#x2A;*"Can edit"*&#x2A;. &#x2A;*"Add person"*&#x2A; shares with someone by
    name. Changes apply immediately. &#x2A;*"Copy link"** gives a link that opens only for people with
    access; there is no public link.

    ### Check who has access

    **"Has access"*&#x2A; lists people, and &#x2A;*"Appears in"** lists the chats and projects that hold it.

To un-share, switch back to &#x2A;*"Private"**. People added by name keep access until you remove
them.

## What else gives access

A private transcript is also readable by people you added by name, by members of a chat it's
attached to, and by everyone who can open a [project](/docs/concepts/projects&#x29; it's in (&#x2A;*"Add to
projects"**, shown only to the owner).

## Who can change it

* Only the owner changes access, adds it to projects or deletes it.
* Others can read, search and export it; with &#x2A;*"Can edit"** they can also rename it.
* Others can &#x2A;*"Leave"** to drop their own access, unless that would give them more access than
  before.
* Workspace admins don't get access to private transcripts.

Deleting moves the transcript to **Settings → Trash** for 30 days and removes all shared access.
