Canvas
An infinite board your workspace shares. Generate images, video and speech onto it, edit a picture in one click, and see who can change it.
A canvas is an infinite board where you draw, place assets and generate new ones into your arrangement. Several people can work on it at once and see each other's changes live; there is no save button.
Canvas in the sidebar lists the boards you can open. "New canvas" starts one.
The board
- Toolbar: select, pan, draw, eraser, arrow, text, note, frame, shape, undo and redo. The zoom controls add "Focus", a minimap and snapping.
- Side panel: with nothing selected it's your Library (same search and filters, plus "This canvas"); drag items onto the board. With a selection it shows Info.
- Generate bar: the same composer as Image and Video, fixed at the bottom. What you have selected changes what it does.
- Collaborators appear in the header with their cursors. You can follow someone, and "Cursor chat" (right-click) shows a short message by your cursor.
Generate on a canvas
From scratch
With nothing selected, choose "Generate image", "Generate video" or "Generate speech" (when a speech model is on). The result lands in the middle of your view.
From a selection
Select an image and choose an action on it: "Remix image" makes another image, "Convert to video" turns it into a clip. Select text for "Use as prompt" or "Convert to speech" (see Speech). The result lands beside the selection. Only actions that an available model can do are offered; right-click shows the same options.
Check the estimate and generate
The bar shows "Estimated cost", or "Not enough credits" with what the run needs and what you have. Working from a selection often uses a differently priced model endpoint, so the prices in the model list reflect the current selection.
The server, not your browser, places a "Generating…" square on the board and replaces it with the result. Everyone sees it, and the result arrives even if you close the tab. If a run fails, the square says "An error occurred while generating. Try again."; right-click it and choose "Contact support" to send the error code.
One-click edits
Select one image or clip for a second row of buttons. Each runs a fixed model with default settings and puts the result beside the original.
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| "Enhance image" | Upscales and sharpens a picture |
| "Remove background" | Cuts the subject out onto a transparent background |
| "Enhance video" | Upscales a clip |
| "Finish draft in HD" | Renders a video "Draft" again at 1080p (not after it has expired) |
These buttons spend credits, so each needs two presses: the first shows "Confirm" with the price; press it again or press Enter. Escape or selecting something else cancels.
The top row also has "Download", and on a clip "Capture frame", which saves the current frame as an image beside it.
Manage items
In Info for a generated item:
- "Regenerate" runs the same setup again; "Reuse parameters" loads it into the bar.
- "Cancel generation" stops a running item. If the provider had started, it may still be charged, and the result goes to the trash.
- "Remove from canvas" takes it off the board but keeps it in your library.
- "Move to trash" (⋯ menu) trashes the asset and every copy of it on the board.
The canvas name in the header (or ⋯ on its card) offers "Edit", "Copy link", "View in library", "Share" and "Delete". Link a board to a project in Share → "Add to projects".
Access and editing
Opening a board and changing it are separate:
- Who can open it is set by sharing: "Private", or the "Workspace" at Can view or Can edit, plus specific people. A board in a project can be viewed by everyone who can open the project. A private board shows "This canvas is private. Ask the owner to share it with your workspace, then try opening it again."
- Who can edit it: the owner or someone with Can edit, if their role can create content. Anyone else gets a "Read-only" badge, no generate bar and only non-editing tools.
- Creating a canvas needs permission to create content. See Roles and permissions.
Sharing a board shares what's on it. A private asset on a workspace-shared board is readable by everyone who can open the board. See Assets and visibility.
If Canvas is missing
A workspace can switch Canvas off for everyone, a team or one person; it then disappears from the sidebar. Some workspaces instead see "Canvas is coming soon".
