What is podcast transcription?

Podcast transcription turns an episode into text: every line, who said it and when. Listeners who prefer to read can follow the episode, search engines can index what was said, and you can quote a guest without replaying the audio to check the wording.

The transcript is also where most of the written work around an episode starts. Show notes, chapter markers, a newsletter, an episode page and the posts that promote it all come from what was said. Writing them from memory takes time and misses details. Writing them from a transcript is faster and you can check every line.

Endless transcribes the episode file you upload with speakers and timestamps, and adds chapters that mark the topic changes. The transcript is saved in your workspace's Transcripts section. In the same chat, the agent writes show notes, picks quotes to clip with their timestamps and drafts posts. Save the results to a project to keep every episode of the show in one place.

How it works

  1. 01

    Choose the episode file

Pick the episode's audio or video file, such as an MP3, WAV, M4A or MP4 export from your editor. Files can be up to 2 GB.

  2. 02

Sign in and attach the file again

Create a free Endless account or sign in. Your workspace chat opens with the prompt already written. The file cannot travel from this page to the app, so attach it again in the chat and send.

  3. 03

Get the transcript and show notes

The agent saves the transcript in Transcripts, then writes the show notes, chapters, quotes to clip and post drafts. Ask for changes in the same chat.

What people use it for

  1. 01

    Write show notes

Get a summary of the episode, the topics in order with their timestamps and the links or names mentioned. The agent writes them from the transcript, so nothing depends on your memory of a recording you made a week ago. Ask for a shorter or longer version to fit each platform.

  2. 02

    Add chapters to the episode

Endless marks the topic changes in the transcript as chapters with start times. Copy them into your podcast host or video description, or ask the agent to rename them in your show's style. Listeners can then jump to the part they care about.

  3. 03

    Find clips for social

Ask the agent for the moments that work on their own: a strong opinion, a funny exchange, a clear piece of advice. Each one comes with its timestamps, so you know where to cut the clip in your editor. The agent can also write the caption for each clip.

  4. 04

    Publish a readable transcript

Put the full transcript on the episode page for listeners who prefer to read and for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Export it as plain text or as text with speakers, or as SRT or VTT subtitles for the video version of the episode.

  5. 05

Turn an episode into an article

Ask the agent to rewrite the conversation as a blog post or newsletter issue, keeping the guest's words where they matter. The draft follows the order of the episode, and every quote can be checked against the transcript.

  6. 06

    Keep a searchable archive

Transcribe every episode and save the notes to one project. When you want to know which guest talked about a topic, or whether you already covered it, search your transcripts or ask the agent instead of listening back through old episodes.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I transcribe a podcast for free?

You can start free. Create a free Endless account and the Free plan gives your workspace 100 credits when you create it and 50 credits every week. Each transcript spends credits from that balance. Paid plans add more credits if you publish often or record long episodes.

  • How much does it cost to transcribe an episode?

Uploaded files are transcribed at high quality, which costs 1 credit per minute of recording, so a 45-minute episode costs 45 credits. The agent's work afterward, such as show notes and posts, also spends credits. The chat shows what each run spent.

  • What file formats can I upload?

Audio files such as MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG and Opus, and video files such as MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM. Each file can be up to 2 GB. If you record video podcasts, upload the video file directly. You do not need to extract the audio first.

  • Does it separate the host and the guests?

Yes. Each line is labeled with its speaker and has a timestamp. Endless suggests a name for each speaker from the conversation, for example when the host welcomes a guest by name. You can rename any speaker in the transcript's Speakers panel. Accuracy is best when people do not talk over each other.

  • Can I fix a name the transcript got wrong?

Yes. Ask the agent to replace the misspelled name, such as a guest's surname or a product name, and it corrects every occurrence in the saved transcript. You can also rename a speaker yourself in the Speakers panel.

  • Can I export the transcript?

Yes. Export it as plain text, text with speakers, JSON, or SRT and VTT subtitles. Use the text versions for your episode page or newsletter and the subtitle files for the video version on YouTube or social platforms.

  • Is my episode private before I publish it?

Yes. Files you upload and their transcripts live in your workspace and are private by default. You choose whether to share them with teammates. Endless does not publish your recordings anywhere.
