Voice memo to text

Upload a voice memo from your phone. Endless transcribes it, and the agent turns what you said into clean notes, a draft or a to-do list.

Transcripts
Transcribe the voice memo I attached, workshop-idea-walk-home.m4a. Then give me a cleaned-up version of what I said as short notes, without filler words or repetitions, and a to-do list of anything I said I need to do.

Your idea: a two-hour workshop for new team leads on running one-on-ones, with role-play in the second hour.

  • To do: ask Sam whether the training room is free in November.
  • To do: write three role-play scenarios, including a hard conversation about missed deadlines.
  • To do: send a short survey to new leads to ask what they struggle with.

How do you turn a voice memo into text?

A voice memo is the fastest way to save an idea when you cannot type: walking, driving, between meetings. The problem comes later. A list of recordings is hard to search, and listening back to find one sentence takes longer than the memo did. Turning the memo into text makes it something you can read, search and reuse.

A word-for-word transcript of a memo is rarely what you want to keep. People think out loud, repeat themselves and change direction. What you usually need is the idea in clean sentences, the tasks you mentioned in a list, or a first draft of the email or post you were thinking through.

Endless transcribes the memo file you upload and saves the transcript in your workspace's Transcripts section. In the same chat, the agent rewrites it as clean notes, pulls out a to-do list or turns it into a draft. The original transcript stays saved, so you can check what you actually said.

How it works

  1. 01

    Choose the voice memo

Share the memo from your phone's voice recorder app to your computer, or pick it from your files. M4A, MP3, WAV and other audio files work, up to 2 GB.

  2. 02

Sign in and attach the file again

Create a free Endless account or sign in. Your workspace chat opens with the prompt already written. The file cannot travel from this page to the app, so attach it again in the chat and send.

  3. 03

Get the text and the notes

The agent saves the transcript in Transcripts, then gives you the cleaned-up notes and the to-do list. Ask for a draft or a different format in the same chat.

What people use it for

  1. 01

    Turn ideas into notes

Record an idea while it is fresh and get it back as short, clean notes without the pauses and repetitions. Ask the agent to group related points, so a ten-minute ramble becomes a few lines you can act on.

  2. 02

    Make a to-do list

Talk through everything you need to do this week and ask the agent for a to-do list, grouped by project or by day. It picks up the tasks you mentioned in passing, so nothing stays buried in the recording.

  3. 03

Draft an email or a post

Say what you want to write, the way you would explain it to a friend, then ask the agent for a draft email, post or script in your tone. Editing a draft is faster than starting from an empty page.

  4. 04

    Keep a spoken journal

If you journal out loud, transcribe each entry so you can read and search it later. Ask the agent what themes come up across several entries, or for a short summary of each one.

  5. 05

    Capture notes after a visit

Record a quick memo after a site visit, a client meeting or a lecture, while the details are fresh. Get the transcript and ask the agent to turn it into a structured report or study notes.

  6. 06

    Write in another language

Record in the language you think in, then ask the agent to write the notes or the draft in another language. The transcript stays in the original language, so you can check the translation.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I convert a voice memo to text for free?

You can start free. Create a free Endless account and the Free plan gives your workspace 100 credits when you create it and 50 credits every week. Each transcript spends credits from that balance. Short memos use very few credits.

  • How much does it cost?

Uploaded files are transcribed at high quality, which costs 1 credit per minute of recording, so a 3-minute memo costs 3 credits. Cleaning it up or turning it into a draft also spends credits. The chat shows what each run spent.

  • Does it work with iPhone and Android voice memos?

It works with the audio file. iPhone Voice Memos saves M4A files, which work. Android recorder apps usually save M4A, MP3 or WAV, which also work. Other supported formats include AAC, FLAC, OGG and Opus. Each file can be up to 2 GB.

  • Will it remove filler words?

The transcript keeps what you said. Ask the agent for a cleaned-up version and it writes the same content without filler words, repetitions and false starts. Both versions stay available, the transcript in Transcripts and the clean notes in the chat.

  • Can it transcribe memos in other languages?

Yes. Endless detects the language of the recording. You can also ask the agent to write the notes or the draft in a different language from the one you spoke.

  • Are my voice memos private?

Yes. Files you upload and their transcripts live in your workspace and are private by default. You choose whether to share them with teammates. Endless does not publish your recordings anywhere.
